Admissions Process

We are delighted that you are interested in Acton Academy of Washington, DC! The admissions process is designed to make sure that we are the right school for your child and your family.

Step One: Learn More

Please familiarize yourself with Acton, if you haven't already. We recommend you review our website, watch our videos, and read Courage to Grow: How Acton Academy Turns Learning Upside Down.

Step Two: Sign Up for a Tour

If you haven’t toured Acton already, please join us for a one-on-one discussion with our founders so we can learn more about your family, tell you about our school, and answer your questions (select a tour date and time). We look forward to meeting you!

Step Three: Complete the Application

Please use the online application to submit your answers to these and other questions:

  2. Why do you think Acton Academy of Washington, DC would be a good fit for your child?

  3. Tell us about your family's educational journey. How have you been satisfied and dissatisfied with your child’s education so far (if applicable)?

Step Four: Child Visit or Shadow Day + In-Person Tour

After receiving your application, we will invite your child to visit Acton or come for a shadow day. These visits are an opportunity for your child to experience Acton and for us to get to know him/her. Applicants to our Montessori program (ages 3-6) visit for 20-30 minutes. Applicants to our lower elementary program (grades 2-3) visit for a half day in the morning. Upper elementary (grades 4-5) and middle school (grades 6-8) applicants visit for a full day. We are also happy to give you an in-person tour of Acton Academy at that time.

Step Five: Parent Interview

The parent interview is an opportunity for us to learn more about your family and your interest in Acton Academy.

Step Six (Optional): Connect with an Acton Ambassador

At this stage, if requested, we are happy to connect you to an Acton Ambassador to learn more about Acton and the school community. Acton Ambassadors are current Acton parents who have agreed to connect with prospective families.

Step Seven: Invitation to Enroll

Following the child visit and parent interview, if we believe Acton would be a good fit for your family, we will invite you to enroll. The enrollment fee will be due upon acceptance of our offer of admission.
